DUNGEON OF BIZARRE 0.6!
Hi, first of all, im sorry for taking so long, i've been very busy this year.
Development
This is the biggest update yet, there a LOT of new features and i changed many things about the game. I wanted to shift my focus into something else, i wanted players to feel progression as they played and for the game to be more than just an endless survival mode type of game, i've been planning on making a "Story Mode" with more detailed leves and more focused in enemy placement and level desing, of course this is my first time trying something like this, and making what i have planned might be a little ambitiou but im willing to take the risk and listen to player opinions to make changes and not repeat mistakes in future levels, so opinions are welcomed :)
Its been more than a year since the last update and maybe the next update might take a lot of time. But this time it took me longer since i had to refactor most of the code, since a lot of old code was from before i knew some basic concepts about programming
New Music:
All of the tracks that are currently in Dungeon Of Bizarre 0.5 are made by me, the first songs i've ever made were pretty low quality and not really good, but i enjoyed making it and got better over time, new tracks i feel confident about them, they're not the best but its an improvement and they were pretty fun to make, im specially proud of "FFFFF" and "Stuck Inside a Dungeon".
But because not all tracks fit or sound that good in my opinion, i thought that it would be a good idea to work with someone else. My friend Brizi he's really good at it so he's helping me out, so far he's made the new song for the tutorial, and both songs for the "Sewers" level. Its really helpful so i can concentrate more on other aspects of the game and im thinking of working with other people in the future to fix a lot of my (at the moment) broken game
###ADDED
- New Adventure mode, its the story and the current main focus of the game
- New songs for tutorial and other levels in Adventure mode
- The keys "I" / "O" can now be used to zoom in / out
- New shop for adventure mode and leveling up vending machine (can now level up Charisma, Strength and Agility)
- Expanded butter Town, there's houses and other paths you can follow (more things will be added in the future)
- Better AI with new enemy behaviour types, some enemies will escape from the players when in low health of keep their distance, follow other enemies, and other things, behaviours can change depending on enemy health or level desing.
- Updated tutorial, now the background is different, the dialog changed slightly and other changes
- Player dodge using the spacebar, you will jump to the opposite direction to the mouse
- Main Menu screen looks SO MUCH better and works a lot better. Support for mouse and keys fixed!!!
- Main Menu has a new song and its a banger
- Take a screenshot with F1
- Hide the UI with F2 key
- Companions can be hired at the town
- Companions have their own AI and shoot when an enemy is close to them
- Fist is the new default weapon, punching enemies is now an option
- BGS for certain levels
- Boss In "Sewer" level
- Particle Effects for certain bullets, enemies and player
- Effects for levels
- Water in town, the Sewers and the Swamp are now animated
- New tilesets, destructible objects such as Urns and level details
###FIXED
- Music duplication is fixed, now tracks wont play twice and make your eyes bleed
- Tutorial game crashes
- Dungeon Mode Boss Crashes
- Enemies crashing the game
- When you shoot a crate or other object that's getting damaged the flash effect didn't work
- Weapon cooldown remained when changing weapons, now it depends on the weapon slot you're using
- Own explosions dont deal damage to you or your companions
- Performance issues fixed with some effects and shaders
- Refactor code, now the game should run a bit faster and be easier for me to work on
- Power Up Bugs are now fixed, now enemies cannot drop more than one power up at a time
- Some tilesets are more polished and better looking
- Paths in Butter town are no longer blocky paths
Im thinking of adding new guns, new companion types, more Mike variations and other zones/towns in the future. I hope this time i dont take that long to finish it or at the very least make it a very big update. The game currently its looking great compared to what it used to look like a year ago, this is my biggest project so far and im very exited to finishing it :)
